Australia is a multicultural society which recognizes the
contribution of immigrants and students. Australia speaks English and complies
with international standards in most things especially the professions. Education is Australia’s third largest
export. It is becoming an increasing attractive market for Colombians.
Australia has 6 of the top 100 universities
in the world (given its population that a big focus on education). Getting a
study visa is relatively easy and students can work up to 20 hours per week-
wages in real terms are higher than the US so they can largely support
themselves.
Critical is the process for Colombians getting post-graduate qualifications is
now well established and there are now many Latin American Spanish speakers in
the major Australian cities and university town.
